چکیده

Tidal inlets are of great societal importance as they are often associated with ports and harbours, industry, tourism, recreation and prime waterfront real estate. Their behaviour is governed by the delicate balance of oceanic processes (tides, waves and mean sea level), and fluvial/estuarine processes (riverflow and heat fluxes), all of which can be significantly affected by climate change (CC) processes. This study investigates the potential range of CC impacts on the stability (closed/open state and locational stability) via the application of a sophisticated process based morphodynamic model (Delft3D) to strategically selected schematised inlet morphologies and forcing conditions.

ASSESSING CLIMATE CHANGE IMPACTS ON THE STABILITY OF SMALL TIDAL INLETS: Part 2- DATA RICH ENVIRONMENTS.

Climate change (CC) is likely to affect the thousands of bar-built or barrier estuaries (here referred to as Small tidal inlets - STIs) around the world. Any such CC impacts on the stability of STIs, which governs the dynamics of STIs as well as that of the inlet-adjacent coastline, can result in significant socio-economic consequences due to the heavy human utilisation of these systems and the...

Modelling potential impacts of climate change on the oak spatial distribution (Case study: Ilam and Lorestan provinces)

Examining the effects of climate change on the oak spatial distribution, as the main species of Zagros forests and its ecological and economic values is of significant importance. Here, we used species distribution models for simulating current climatic suitability of oak and its potential changes in 2050 and 2070. For this purpose, five regression-based and machine learning approaches, four cl...

Modelling the effects of climate change on the distribution of Kura bleak (Alburnus filippii Kessler, 1877) on the Iranian scale

The phenomenon of climate change is the greatest environmental challenge facing in the world today. The phenomenon is expected to affect all ecosystems in the world. Freshwater ecosystems are more vulnerable to these changes, as freshwater is exposed to various human pressures such as hydrology, morphology, connectivity and water quality. Therefore, climate change along with the mentioned issue...

Predicting the Effect of Climate Change on Potato Production in Fereidunshahr (Isfahan, Central Iran) and Evaluation of Adaptation Strategies (Adopting Cultivars and Planting Dates)

Strategies to enhance local adaptation capacity are needed to mitigate climate change impacts and to maintain regional stability of food production. The objectives of this study were to simulate the climate change effects on phenology stages, potato production in the future and to explore the possibilities of employing planting dates and various varieties (Agria, Arinda and Santeh) as mitigatin...
